What did we do?

We did a commitment ceremony in Kauai that gave us the opportunity to commit to share out lives together and to ask the our family and friends to support us.

On Friday night we hosted a Luau and game in the gardens at Na 'Aina Kai. This 300-acre private setting provided the opportunity for our families and guest to all meet.

On Saturday at 5:00 at Na 'Aina Kai were married. It was important to us to create a ceremony where we that had a spiritual element and a local feeling. We worked with a wonderful woman, Fern Merle-Jones, to create what we wanted.

We did the ceremony on the water both as reflection of the beauty of love and become the beach has special significance to us; and in particular to Doug, who grew up on the water.

We celebrated with dinner and dancing. As it usual for us, we picked the wines and we enjoyed a Grand Dame Moment-high points in our lives that we use to celebrate something significant.

We headed off to New Zealand and Queenstown! It was winter there so we were on the ski slopes with sand on our sunglasses. We skied a Coronet Peak, went heli-sking, went wine tasting in Central Otago, and did a jet boat ride. We had an amazing stay at Matakauri Lodge.

We could never have pulled this off without the support or our family and friends! Thanks for everyone that was in Hawaii to share the weekend with us. We also worked with several great people, including our planner, Deanna Schafer at "I Do" Weddings, Anja i-do-graphics who did our printing, Sean at Gallery Flux who did our rings, and Chuck Arida who did the music.
